In 2001, I presented an all-day workshop at the Jung Society of Washington, DC
entitled Wisewoman: The Rebirth of the Crone Archetype. In this workshop, I traced
the long historical arc of the Wisewoman archetype—its central role in early cultures, its
repression over the past 5,000 years, and its powerful reemergence in our time through
women around the world today.

Out of this gathering, a group of participants went on to form an ongoing organization
within the Jung Society of Washington, DC. Together, we present forums and
conversations exploring the Wisewoman archetype, as well as related themes such as
the second half of life, fairy tales, mythology, and archetypal psychology.

Our Google Group serves as a living forum for dialogue and reflection on the Rebirth of
the Crone archetype. Here we explore how this life phase can be consciously redefined,
who our models and lineage-bearers are, and how Crone wisdom can be brought into
all facets of society—education, leadership, healing, and culture—to restore balance
and bring healing to a world that often seems bent on self-destruction.
