In 2001, I started a Simplicity Circle in Greenbelt, MD, inspired by Cecile Andrews’ book
Circles of Simplicity. The book explores the idea of communities supporting one
another while practicing voluntary simplicity. This approach resonated deeply and
quickly spread to neighboring communities and other states. Around the same time, I
created a Google Group called DC Metro Simplifiers, which is still active and thriving
today.

The Google Group serves as a forum for people living in Virginia, Maryland, and
Washington, DC to connect, share resources, and build relationships around the values
of simple living, ecology, and collective efforts toward a sustainable future.
