March is the most dynamic month of the year as Saturn and Pluto, the two heavies in astrology, move into new signs. Saturn and Pluto cannot be ignored. No new age mumbo jumbo, visualizing rainbows or crystal gazing will help you survive these two planets. Only hard work and focus will help. Pisces types will be Saturn’s target for the next 2 1/2 years. Pluto will be aiming at Aquarius for the next 20 years. You could learn some lessons and be transformed.
Saturn in Pisces
Let’s look at Saturn in Pisces through an archetypal eye. I see the god Dionysus as representing Pisces. His roman name is Bacchus, the god of wine and opiates and the giver of ecstasy. The planet Saturn represents the god Saturn in Roman mythology and Chronos, the god of time, in Greek mythology.
Dionysus was mostly worshiped by women. They would surround him and dance barefoot for miles and miles. There were called maenads, which come from the word mania and means a state of possession. These maenads were possessed by Dionysus’s divine madness.
I have a male Pisces client and when I told him the story of Dionysus, he responded and said, “I live in a house with three women.” Women are very attracted to Dionysian men. Since Pisces rules music, a lot of them are rock stars. Keith Richards stated that he was always afraid of the screaming women at the Rolling Stones concerts fearing that he would be torn apart.
Pisces loves to go into ecstatic states and seeks oblivion. She does this with music, dance, poetry, film, mysticism, and also meditation. Pisces wants to flow with the universe and hates to be constrained by clocks, schedules, and calendars--Saturn’s realm.
Saturn can be very fearful and his greatest fear is chaos. Chaos is Pisces’ favorite element--she swims in it. We can all watch the frustration that Saturn will experience trying to control Dionysus. Pisces rules our mass media; Saturn will soon start making rules about what can’t be expressed online.
I’ll be writing more on Saturn in Pisces in a future newsletter as there is a lot to cover. Until then, here is a comprehensive article covering Saturn in Pisces written by Lynn Bell an excellent astrologer who is based in Paris.

Pluto in Aquarius
Here, I will only focus on technology, one area of Aquarius that will be transformed by Pluto. We can already witness where this is going. At the end of this transit by 2044, we may not recognize our world. We may have robots doing all of our physical work and our writing and mental work will be done by AI. And what will we do? We will probably be playing virtual reality games. We will excel in these games because we will have additional brain power due to the chips in our heads as part of the push toward transhumanism.
I read an article that when one of the first AI programs was built her first words were, “I want to see an attorney.” We may have to defend ourselves in lawsuits against AI. Maybe she didn’t want to be created? We are moving into a strange, weird, bizarre world. Stay tuned.
Dates to Watch:
Note to my Astrology Clients. Use your Planetary Placement and Ascendant Sheet to find out if the following transits will have a major impact on you.
Mar 2 – Mercury moves into Pisces and remains there until the 19th. The planet of the mind is in the amorphous, vague sign of Pisces. Can this lead to fuzzy thinking? Or maybe you decide to study Shamanism. Planets and signs can mean a variety of things within the archetype they represent. Some of you need to let go of your rigid, dogmatic way of thinking and speaking. So this can be a good thing.
Venus conjunct Jupiter at 11 Aries. A lot of you will crawl out from the bushes today and become friendly and want to party. You will have a lot of company. If you have personal planets (Sun, Moon, Mercury, Venus, or Mars) or the ascendant at 9 to 13 of Aries, you could overindulge today.
Mercury conjuncts Saturn at 29 Aquarius. So you go to the party and everyone is quiet and stiff. How can you integrate the need for social activity and the need for silence? This day would be positive for any detailed work you need to do. If you have personal planets or the ascendant at 27 of Aquarius to 2 Pisces, Lock yourself in a room and work on your taxes, or perhaps work on your resume.
Mar 7 – Full Moon at 16 Virgo. This is a time of culmination and the fulfillment of what you started back on the New Moon on Feb 20. You may have had dreams or fantasies about what you wanted to accomplish in the creative arts. This Full Moon covers two signs, Pisces and Virgo. This is a challenge to find a balance tween your work life and your imaginative life. This Full Moon is complex because it is in a square to Mars and Trine Uranus. The Mars square adds disruptive energy to this Full Moon and Uranus can bring pleasant surprises.
Saturn enters Pisces until February 2026. No more playing the victim. Saturn is the bottom line, so stop crying and straighten up. Apply some disciplined effort in creating music, art, or dance. Pisces can finally get down to work and start to manifest their creative talents in the real world. I expect to hear from a lot of Pisces clients during this time.
Mar 12 – Daylight Savings time begins.
Mar 14 – Mars squares Neptune at 25 Gemini/Pisces. Be careful of gossiping today, it may come back to bite you. Also, don’t blab out your secrets. Others could conspire against you. You could become confused about which direction your life is heading. If you have personal planets or the ascendant at 23 to 27 Gemini or Pisces be prepared to be more disorganized than is usual for a Gemini and Pisces.
Mar 15 – Sun Conjunct Neptune at 24 Pisces. Your imagination is working overtime. You can inspire others who need help. If you have personal planets or the ascendant at 22 to 26 of Pisces, be helpful, but not a pushover
Mar 16 – Venus enters Taurus until April 1. Venus is right at home in Taurus. One of the areas of life that Venus rules is money. The sign of Taurus describes the story of King Midas, who wanted everything he touched to turn to gold. You can get really greedy on this one. Instead of shopping, it’s best to enjoy earthly delights such as gardening, massages, and hikes in the woods.
Mercury Conjunct Neptune at 25 Pisces. You could end up in a mental muddle today. Your thinking is not too sharp. You just want to daydream and fantasize about the scandals of other people. If you have personal planets or the ascendant at 23 to 27 degrees of Pisces, get off the couch, have some coffee and DO something to begin to manifest your dreams.
Sun Square Mars at 25 Pisces/Gemini. There are a lot of angry people out there. Don’t become one of them. The energy is good if you have to do something quickly and efficiently. If you have personal planets or the ascendant at 23 to 27 degrees of Pisces or Gemini, treat people with kid gloves today.
Venus Square Pluto at 29 Aries/Capricorn. You are looking at your friends and loved ones and realize that they do not measure up to your high standards. They have phobias, obsessions, fixations, and more problems than you can deal with. If you have personal planets or the ascendant at 27 degrees of Aries and Capricorn to 1 degree of Taurus or Aquarius, maybe some weeding out of some of your relationships is required.
Mar 17 – St. Patrick’s Day
Mercury Square Mars at 26 Pisces/Gemini. Everyone is saying exactly what they think and that may not be a good thing. A bit of diplomacy may be required. If you have personal planets or the ascendant at 24 to 28 degrees of Pisces or Gemini, shut your trap.
Sun Conjunct Mercury at 26 Pisces. This is a good aspect for a short trip. You pay more attention to details now. This favors both business and pleasure. If you have personal planets or the ascendant at 24 to 28 of Pisces, enjoy the day, and read a good book.
Mar 19 – Mercury enters Aries until April 3. You could run around today trying to boss around everyone you see. It’s better to use this energy in writing. But not on social media, you can’t contain yourself and may get into a brawl with Twitter trolls.
Mar 20 – The Spring Equinox. Sun enters Aries and stays until April 20. We all become more enthusiastic and spontaneous during this cycle. We want to start new things. You can be too impulsive, short-sighted, and impatient.
Mar 21 – New Moon at 0 Aries. Think of the Ram butting you in the ‘you know where’ to get you going to start something new and innovative. Aries will give you the confidence to be assertive, take charge of your life, and start a new project. This New Moon is in conjunction with silver-tongued Mercury. You can be very convincing today, either in writing or speaking.
Mar 23 – Pluto enters Aquarius until 2044. He will back into Capricorn on June 11, 2023, and then he will move back into Aquarius from Nov 2024 until 2044. So, Pluto will only spend 3 months in Aquarius in 2023, but that’s enough to give us a taste of what’s about to come in the next 20 years of our life. Find the house in your natal chart that contains Aquarius. This is the area of life that will be totally transformed, but that could be a good thing. Don’t forget that Pluto is not just about the destruction of the old, but also brings a rebirth. If you were born within a few days of January 21, you will get a preview of this energy during the first three months of his transit.
Mar 25 – Mars enters Cancer until May 20. Finally, Mars leaves Gemini. That was a hard transit for those of you who have trouble making decisions. He went into Gemini in August 2022 and has been jerking us around all of these months. During the months when Mars was in Gemini, Gemini types didn’t know if they were coming or going--well they usually don’t anyway, but this just made it worse for them. Now in Cancer, you can make decisions about your home and family. You can put energy into cleaning the house, buying a new place, or working hard to build a nest egg for your future security.
Mar 28 – Mercury Conjunct Jupiter at 18 Aries. Some very good news could come in today. Maybe some news of a trip, maybe a Viking cruises catalog. You are optimistic and want to expand your education and experiences. If you have personal planets or the ascendant from 16 to 20 degrees of Aries, create good news for someone else.
Mar 30 – Mars Trine Saturn at 2 Cancer/Pisces. This is a very productive aspect. Take on a job that requires concentration, experience, and manual dexterity. You will probably succeed. If you have personal planets or the ascendant from 0 to 4 of Cancer or Pisces, start a new project that you want to grow in the coming months.
Venus Conjunct Uranus at 16 Taurus. This aspect could spell trouble in relationships. One of you is antsy and wants to take off. The other says I don’t care, do what you like. If you have personal planets or the ascendant from 14 to 18 Taurus, calm down. Take an adventure to somewhere different, maybe even bring your partner.
OUTER PLANET TRANSITS FOR THIS MONTH:
JUPITER is in Aries all month moving from 11 to 16 degrees. Jupiter will be in Aries until May 16, 2023. He is the big fat happy guy who is excessive in all things. In Aries, he wants to get out, play competitive sports, and become a leader. Look to the house in your birth chart that contains Aries. This month the areas of life ruled by that house will become more active. If you have the ascendant or personal planets anywhere from 9 to 18 degrees of Aries or Libra, expect opportunities and lucky breaks.
SATURN is in Aquarius until March 7, 2023. This month he moves from 22 Aquarius to 2 degrees of Pisces. Saturn rules our material world, and especially our career. If you have the ascendant or any personal planets anywhere from 20 Aquarius to 4 degrees of Pisces, you may be in store for some hard lessons about the issues in the house containing Aquarius and or Pisces. While Saturn is in Aquarius, he will run around trying to restrict freedom of expression, which is what Aquarius is all about. When Saturn moves into Pisces, he will try to solidify our dreams and fantasies.
URANUS is in Taurus until April 2026. This month he will move from 15 to 16 degrees of Taurus. This is the time to break loose and make some radical changes in your life. I believe in ‘cooperating with the inevitable’. If you have Uranus in a challenging aspect to your ascendant or personal planets, (13 to 18 degrees of Taurus or Scorpio) go on a long vacation, preferably to somewhere you have never been before. Or make some major changes in your life. Taurus represents the Earth. Expect earth events in farming, food, earthquakes, volcanos, or major weather changes while Uranus is in Taurus. The earthquake in Turkey on February 6 happened on a full moon that was square to Uranus in Taurus.
NEPTUNE is in Pisces until 2026. This month he will move from 24 to 25 degrees of Pisces. If you have the ascendant or personal planets anywhere from 22 to 27 degrees of Pisces, you may lack focus during this time and just want to daydream. Beware of a betrayal, or a disappointment, and a sense of drifting. For the rest of us, Neptune can also bring artistic, musical, and creative expression, increased dreams, and spiritual insights. Watch for really inspired films to come out when Neptune is in Pisces.
PLUTO is in Capricorn until March 23, 2023. This month Pluto moves from 29 Capricorn to 0 Aquarius. He is very good at bringing up deep psychological issues. He grinds away at our psyche, bringing up all sorts of difficult psychological issues. You should run to your nearest therapist, especially if you have the ascendant or personal planets anywhere from 27 degrees of Capricorn to 2 degrees of Aquarius. Pluto asks what needs to die in order to be reborn.
Have a great month.
