September 2020 Forecast

Those pesky planets traveling through Capricorn just won’t leave you alone.  Two of them; Jupiter and Saturn will stop in the sky this month to make sure you get whatever lessons they are trying to teach you. They are more intense when they stop like that.  Pluto doesn’t need to stop to be intense; he’s a monster in his own right.  So these are the degrees to look for in your birth chart; 20 to 24 degrees of Capricorn or Cancer, 23 to 27 degrees of Capricorn or Cancer, and 25 to 18 degrees of Capricorn or Cancer.  Also, look at the house that contains Capricorn.  This is the area where you will feel expansion, restriction, and regeneration all at the same time.

The big news this month is still Mars, the Planet of the angry warrior, in Aries, the sign of the angry warrior. He is in his own sign which makes him more powerful and unfortunately more angry than usual.  We will have Mars in Aries all year because he will go retrograde this month and then direct in November and finally leave Aries in January 2021.  This month Mars turns retrograde so that he can back up and kick Saturn, Jupiter, and Pluto again as he did last month.  Look at the house in your natal chart that contains Aries as this house will see more activity than usual. Try not to be drawn into conflicts, instead, use this energy to be more productive in your Aries house.  See the meaning of the houses here.

Aries represents individual power and Capricorn rules government, institutions, and corporations.  We can see this as Individuals protesting in the streets but running up against repressive forces of the government.  The time period from now through January could include violence during these protests. I see civil unrest around these issues throughout the rest of the year right through the election in the US.  I know some astrologers that are backing off from trying to make a prediction about the presidential election because the planetary configurations are too confusing.  This also holds true for the inauguration date.   

Between the 9^th and 12^th, we will have 7 planets moving retrograde.  They are reiterating old problems and clearing the ground before they go direct.  Are you repeating past issues in your life?

Sep 1 – Mercury Trine Pluto at 21 Virgo/Capricorn.  Start off the month by doing some soul searching. What do you want to accomplish this month?  Someone in a powerful position could be of help.

Sep 2 – Full Moon at 9 Virgo/Pisces.  This Full Moon is sextile Uranus at 10 Taurus.  Full Moons bring things to fruition. This is the culmination or closure of an issue in your Pisces and Virgo house.  Full Moons shine a light into dark corners.  There may be more disclosures.  Pisces is an emotional sign so feelings come to the fore.

Covid 19 hit 6 months ago when the Sun was in Pisces and the Full Moon was in Virgo.  Now that we have a Full Moon in the same signs, we may find out something important about the pandemic.  Watch the news during the period of 3 days before and 3 days after this Full Moon.

          Venus Opposite Saturn at 25 Cancer/Capricorn.  This shows a conflict between your need for security and safety vs control and dominance.  This will come out in our personal relationships.  Which part are you playing?   You may feel restricted and not able to reach out to others.  But this is a good day for contemplation as it isn’t a sociable aspect.  Be realistic about your relationships and finances especially if you have personal planets (Sun, Moon, Mercury, Venus or Mars) or the ascendant at 23 to 27 Cancer or Capricorn.

          Sun Trine Uranus at 10 Virgo/Taurus.  You are original and creative.  This is a positive aspect that helps you experiment with new ideas.  This is a good time to manifest your wishes.

Sep 3 – Mercury Trine Saturn at 25 Virgo/Capricorn.  You can get a lot done today.  Sort and organize your office.

Sep 4 – Venus Square Mars at 27 Cancer/Aries. Try to find compromise today if you feel that your relationships are too one-sided. There may be fisticuffs with your loved one if you have personal planets or the ascendant at 25 to 28 Cancer or Aries.

Sep 5 – Mercury enters Libra until Sep 27.  Libra does not like conflict so Mercury will try to talk his way around problems.  This time period is great for communications with loved ones.  You become friendlier than usual.

Sep 6 – Venus enters Leo until Oct 2.  You want your values and emotions out there to be on display so that everyone notices you.  But others may not think you are so cute.  But, it’s a playful time, have fun.

Sep 9 – Mars turns retrograde until Nov 13.  Some say Mars loses some power when he goes retrograde.  My experience is that he just gets sneaky and whacks you when and where you least expect it.  While he is retrograde, he will travel from 28 Aries to 15 Aries.  If you have planets from 13 to 0 Taurus, you may have some simmering anger you need to release.

          Sun Trine Jupiter at 17 Virgo/Capricorn.  This is a positive, optimistic aspect.  Spend time with your closest friends.  Explore the world.

Sep 11 – Sun Opposite Neptune at 19 Virgo/Pisces. This can bring in some low energy.  Don’t try to start a new project on this one.  It can be confusing and distracting today.  Watch out for deception if you have personal planets or the ascendant at 15 to 19 Virgo or Pisces.

Sep 12 - Jupiter turns direct at 17 Capricorn. There could be a break in your financial matters.  Any news that comes in could be exaggerated.   But you start to be more optimistic about your plans. Just don’t go overboard.  Take it slow.  What house is 17 Capricorn located in your natal chart?  Some good luck could happen around the area of that house.

Sep 14 – Sun Trine Pluto at 22 Virgo/Capricorn. You could collaborate with someone you trust today.  Or you could get advice from someone that is advantageous.

Sep 15 – Venus Square Uranus at 10 Leo/Taurus. Your relationships can be exciting but unpredictable.  You may be looking for a new partner that is a bit crazy just to keep you entertained.  Venus also rules money so don’t invest in a wild, crazy idea today, especially if you have personal planets or the ascendant at 8 to 12 Leo or Taurus.

Sep 17 – New Moon at 24 Virgo. This is the best New Moon of the year because it trines Jupiter, Pluto, and Saturn in Capricorn.  Look for a new start.  The New Moon and the planets it trines are all in earth signs.  A good time to declutter, organize, and do some maintenance around the home. Definitely do an intention on what you want to create in your physical world.

          Mercury Square Jupiter at 17 Libra/Capricorn.  You feel optimistic today.  You love to talk and could fabricate a lot of stories just to see if anyone will believe you.  You could become the teller of tall tales if you have personal planets or the ascendant at 15 to 19 Libra or Capricorn.

Sep 21 – Mercury Square Pluto at 22 Libra/Capricorn. Some powerful person is trying to influence your thinking.  Be on guard especially if you have personal planets or the ascendant at 20 to 24 Libra/Capricorn.

Sep 22 – Sun enters Libra until Oct 22.  Accept other people’s points of view.  Bring harmony and beauty to your surroundings including those around you.

Sep 23 – Mercury Square Saturn at 25 Libra/Capricorn.  Frustrating.  You have great ideas and want to carry them through to completion, but ole Saturn is putting on the brakes.  Wait a few days, especially if you have personal planets or the ascendant at 23 to 27 Libra/Capricorn.

Sep 24 – Mercury Opposite Mars at 26 Libra/Aries.  Arguments.  Try not to be quick on the trigger with your words.  Try not to offend others.  Use this energy as a mental stimulus. Hold your tongue especially if you have personal planets or the ascendant at 24 to 28 Aries/Libra.

Sep 27 – Mercury enters Scorpio until Dec 1.  Mercury turns retrograde on Oct 13, reenters Lira on Oct 27, turns direct on Nov 3, and reenters Scorpio Nov 10.  When Mercury is in Scorpio, your mind becomes inward-focused.  You could become a touch paranoid.   Do you just think they are out to get you?  Or are they really out to get you?

Sep 28 – Venus Trine Mars at 25 Leo/Aries. Figure out a plan that will free you from financial worry.

Sep 29 – Saturn turns direct at 26 Capricorn. Saturn went into Capricorn in Dec 2017.  This is his goodbye trip because in December he moves into Aquarius.  Tie up loose ends in your Capricorn house.

          Mars square Saturn and Pluto and opposite Venus.  This is called a T-Square.  What we are seeing is a collapse of the old order. (Saturn and Pluto) replaced by individual rights (Mars) and compromise (Venus).   Mars is in its own sign, making it strong, but Saturn is also in its own sign.  This aspect represents an intense struggle.

 

OUTER PLANET TRANSITS:

JUPITER is now in Capricorn until December 20, 2020.  This month Jupiter moves retrograde until September 12 when he turns direct at 17 degrees of Capricorn.  He will stay at 17 degrees of Capricorn all month.  Jupiter is about growth and expansion especially in travel and education and also in the area of your life ruled by the house in your natal chart that contains Capricorn.  Jupiter isn’t very happy in Capricorn because he has to get down to business; become responsible, and build a career. Don’t forget about his excessive qualities. In Capricorn, he could work too hard, and be too focused on the material and forget to smell the roses

SATURN is now in Capricorn and is moving retrograde until the 29^th of September when he turns direct at 25 degrees of Capricorn.  This month he stays at 25 degrees of Capricorn.  If you have the ascendant or any personal planets at 23 to 27 degrees of Capricorn or Cancer, you may be in store for some hard lessons around the issues ruled by the planet and the house the planet is in or rules. While Saturn is in Capricorn he is asking about your ambitions, your career, and your work ethic. In Capricorn, he is right at home and wants to build something. He stimulates you to make plans to be successful in the outer world. 

 URANUS is in Taurus until Apr 2026. This month he is retrograde and travels from 10 to 8 degrees if Taurus.   If you have personal planets or the ascendant at 6 to 12 degrees of Taurus or Scorpio, you will feel a need for freedom and for making some radical changes in your life. I believe in ‘cooperating with the inevitable’.  If you have Uranus in a challenging aspect to your ascendant or personal planets, go on a long vacation, move or make some major changes in your life. Taurus is the earth.  Expect earth events such as earthquakes and hurricanes during the period that Uranus is in Taurus.

NEPTUNE (creativity, sensitivity, escapism, dreams) is in Pisces until 2026. This month Neptune is retrograde and stays at 19 degrees of Pisces all month.  A lack of focus, a sense of drifting, or an inability to see a betrayal or disappointment until it's too late can be experienced by those of you with the ascendant or Personal Planets at 17 to 21 degrees of Pisces or Virgo. For the enlightened out there, Neptune can also bring artistic, musical, creative expression, increased dreams, and spiritual insights. Watch for some really inspired films to come out during the time Neptune is in Pisces. 

PLUTO is in Capricorn until 2023.  This month, Pluto is moving retrograde and will stay at 22 degrees of Capricorn. Profound changes will be felt especially by those with the ascendant or personal planets at 20 to 24 degrees of Capricorn or Cancer. What needs to die in order to be reborn?

An Archetypal Astrological Review of Kamala Harris’ Birth Chart

Kamala Harris was born on Oct 20, 1964 at 9:28 PM in Oakland, CA.

I analyze birth charts by looking at the archetypes, or in other words, daimon’s or gods and goddesses. As Hillman’s states in his book, The Soul’s Code, “The soul of each of us is given a unique daimon before we are born and it has selected an image or pattern that we live on earth….the daimon is the carrier of our destiny. Thus we are born with unconscious drives and motivations.   The ancients Greeks called this energy the gods. Hillman called them daimons and Jung called them archetypes.   Archetypes are unconscious clusters of behaviors and patterns of emotions and mental constructs.  The most important archetypes in our birth chart are revealed by the sign of the Sun, the Moon, and the Ascendant.

My astrologer friend Robert Hand says that “You don’t know how much consciousness is pumped into a chart”.  That is true and that is why when I analyze a birth chart, I never try to analyze a chart of someone who is not there in front of me or not on the phone to give me feedback.  Each archetype has an evolved and unevolved or mature and immature aspect.  My experience has been that if we are introspective or have learned something from our suffering and work on ourselves, we have a better chance to manifest the higher elements of the archetypes.  My experience has also shown me that it is difficult to have worked on yourself and have all the archetypes operating in a conscious manner when you are young.   Usually, the way we evolve is that we work on our charts one archetype at a time, and by the time we are 60 or 70, there is a good chance that we have the entire chart humming along in a compassionate, conscious manner. 

I don’t know Karmala Harris personally so I do not know if she is evolved or unevolved or about the growth of all parts of her chart.  But here goes….

Kamala has the Sun in Libra, the Moon in Aries, and the ascendant in Gemini.  As I wrote earlier, I don’t like doing charts of people in a vacuum because it is so important to have a discussion with the person and to ask questions. That is the way to determine what level of consciousness the person is operating on.  I’m going to assume that Kamala has worked on herself and is operating at near the highest level of the archetypes in her birth chart. 

The Moon shows our emotional needs, the ascendant is the mask we wear, the persona, and the Sun is our core identity, what we are meant to become.  See my blog post for more on the Sun, Moon, and Ascendant meanings. The purpose of knowing these three aspects of our personality is to see if we can get them to work together.  Kamala has two air signs (Gemini and Libra) and one Fire sign (Aires).  Air signs represent the thinker and fire is the inspiration.  Fire warms the air signs that can be too cool and air fans the fire signs bringing energy and optimism to the fire.

Let’s look at the positive side of her archetypes.  First of all, she has 2 powerful goddesses in her chart; Athena (the Moon in Aries) and Aphrodite (the Sun in Libra). She was born on a Full Moon.  This can represent mood swings between what you know is logical and what your heart wants.  Trump was also born on a Full Moon, Lunar Eclipse. People born when the Moon is full are shining out a bright light that gets noticed.  They are hard to ignore.

Let’s look at the 3 important myths in her chart.  A good way to understand a mythical character or archetypes is to research how and where they were born.

 

LIBRA SUN

Aphrodite is the archetype for Libra and is the goddess of love and beautify.   Aphrodite’s birth tells us a lot about Libran energy. When Saturn castrated Uranus, it was the forces of stability, fear, rigidity, and repression against creativity, freedom, and rebellion. These energies were incompatible. The semen from the castration fell in the ocean and Aphrodite was born sailing in on a seashell.  She was the remedy for Saturn vs. Uranus.  She represents harmony and compromise. Libra rules law.  The symbol is the scales representing justice.

They are also people-pleasers, being the most sociable sign in the zodiac But Aphrodite was not all sweetness and light.  She became the mother-in-law from hell. She was jealous of her daughter-in-law Psyche because she was more beautiful and judged and punished her.

 

AIRES MOON

One of the myths for Aries is Athena the warrior, born from the head of her father.  When a prophecy was made to Zeus that a child born from his union with Metis would one day supplant him, he quickly swallowed Metis and the unborn child.  One day he had a raging headache and he asked Hephaestus (Virgo) to split open his head.  Out popped Athena, fully grown, dressed in armor, helmet, and sword.  Athena rules wisdom and battles.  There is a negative father image in this myth.  The father has a wound of some sort.  It seems one of the goals of the Aries is to overthrow the father, not turn their back on him, but to find the fragile human underneath the mask as Skywalker did to Darth Vader.

An Athena woman works with men and being a warrior she defends the patriarchy. This is a woman who will be surrounded by male energy her entire life and will learn to go into battle with them.  Aphrodite seduces men and manipulates them with her charms. Aphrodite is also male-oriented and would be lost without men in her life.

THE ASCENDANT IN GEMINI

Zeus had a clandestine affair with Maia.  She gave birth to Hermes.  When Hermes was only one day old, he got bored and restless in his cradle.  He got out and began walking around.  He decided he wanted milk and decided to steal some of his brother Apollo’s cattle.  He put his sandals on backward so no one could follow his footsteps. He sacrificed three of the cattle to the gods.

Apollo figured out that Hermes had stolen his cattle, but by this time Hermes had hidden the cattle and he was nbed in his cradle.  When Zeus and Apollo approached him, he pretended to be asleep and then sat up and said, ‘How could I steal your cattle, I am only a day old’ and he kept chattering on and making excuses.  He made Zeus and Apollo roar with laughter.

After they left, Hermes saw a tortoise and talked it into coming into his cave to play.  He killed the tortoise and made a lyre out of his shell and then got bored with the lyre which he gave to Apollo in exchange for the cattle.  He also stole Aphrodite’s girdle and the thunderbolts of Zeus, but each time he managed to talk his way out of trouble, making the Gods laugh even more.  Because of his communication skills, Zeus used him to go to the underworld and make deals with Hades. He also traveled to Olympus to talk to the Gods and to the earth world to help mortals. Because Hermes could talk to everyone on all levels, Zeus made him a messenger of the gods.  So he is a trickster and a liar, but that was when he was a baby.  His adult role is bringing important higher-level knowledge to mankind.

Looking at these three signs for Harris is why it is so ridiculous to fight for women candidates.  Gender doesn’t matter. What we could use is someone with feminine values, man or woman.  Karmala’s chart shows masculine values.  It would be nice to have a Demeter in office, a mothering type who would want to feed the world, or Artemis, the Goddess of the wilderness who protects the environment or Hestia, who is reliable to keep the home fires burning and protect our democracy. But I’m dreaming again.  So what we have instead is a law and order cop with good communication skills.

 

ASPECTS

Karmala has 4 aspects to Mars. Mars is the male planet and rules things such as the police.   Mars in his positive side is a protector.  The following are three of these aspects.

Jupiter in a Challenging Aspect to Mars – Her Mars is in Leo, a very powerful extroverted energy. Jupiter expands that Mars.  She is a fighter for her beliefs and has excessive enthusiasm and courage.  She may be impulsive and rash. A good idea for her would be to work out in a gym, hike, or use that energy in positive ways.

Saturn is Challenging Mars – I always look for at least one Saturn challenge in a chart.  I’m known as the pro-Saturn astrologer.  Saturn helps you work hard. With Mars, it indicates someone who has strength, endurance, and stamina. In her chart with the Gemini ascendant Saturn can take the many ideas she has and organize, shape, focus, and ground them.

Uranus challenges Venus – This is the signature of an unusual relationship. She would be attracted to and have relationships with someone outside of her country or group or social class.  One astrologer did a study and said that Uranus challenging Venus is an indication of a gay person.  I don’t find that true 100 percent of the time.  What I do find is that the person has a relationship that shocks others. Also, there is a need to integrate love with space and independence.  Uranus gets his back up so it would be difficult for her to compromise.

Neptune Challenges Mars – She could be a fighter for the underdog. Sometimes she is not clear on where she wants to go in life. Her sense of direction is confused.  Her aims and goals are not well thought out.  Neptune wants to escape reality.  A good outlet is taking off and running to the beach for a break. A not so good outlet is using drugs or alcohol.

Notice that three Gods, Jupiter, Saturn, and Neptune are challenging her Mars.  Being angry or assertive or working on those issues are major themes in this chart.  How to assert without being seen as aggressive? How to be diplomatic but not a pushover?

Pluto challenges Venus – Some of her relationships could be tortuous or messy. This aspect represents wounding in a relationship. It occurred in her fourth house of home.  She may have suffered some sort of abuse there. Remember astrology doesn’t say what happened, it says what you perceived happened through the filter of your archetypes. 

 

The Election

 It would be presumptive of an astrologer to be sure of how the astrological energy of any aspect and transit would specifically manifest itself   But it is fun looking at the birth charts and guessing. I did predict Trump‘s win.  Because he was born on a Lunar Eclipse, his Ascendant was on Regulus, the king star, and also Jupiter, the King, had stopped in the sky the date and time he was born.  He is a king and son of Jupiter. So he is still hard to beat. (An aside--when I write about the great chart that President Trump has, I am accused of being a Trumper, I’m not a Republican nor a Democrat, So no nasty emails, please)

I did Joe Biden’s chart when he was VP to Obama, I will dig that out and repost it. Maybe when we get closer to the election, I won’t be able to help myself from predicting the winner.
