The first eclipse is a Solar Eclipse on December 26 taking place in the sign of Capricorn. The second Eclipse is a Lunar Eclipse on January 10 and takes place in Cancer. The ancients believed that during an eclipse,” the mighty will fall". They bring endings and beginnings-- births and deaths. The energy from an eclipse can last up to six months and also become active a month before the actual eclipse.
The traditional belief is that rulers are born or die at the time of an eclipse. President Trump* was born on a Lunar Eclipse in 1946, Prince William was born on a Solar Eclipse in 1982 and Princess Diana died on a Solar Eclipse in 1997. People born on an eclipse have a light that shines out to others and they tend to be popular or important people.
*Because of President Trump’s natal lunar eclipse, think of him as having two big shining mirrors pointing outward. This makes him a great reflector so that any negative energy sent his way can bounce back to the originator. Be careful.
Total Solar Eclipse on December 26, 2019, at 4 Capricorn
This solar eclipse is visible from Saudi Arabia, Oman, southern India, and parts of Indonesia. In most of Asia, parts of North/East Africa, and North/West Australia, people can see a partial eclipse.
Solar Eclipses tend to relate to sudden events that disrupt our day to day functioning; they are the crisis that seems to come out of nowhere and that suddenly demands all of our conscious attention and focus. They tend to stir things up on a physical and conscious level much more than Lunar Eclipses.
A solar eclipse is a powerful new moon so make plans for the future. Set your intentions during this eclipse around Capricorn themes – material ambition, career, financial security, and responsibilities. The 6 months following this eclipse is an ideal time to make a fresh start in all of these Capricorn subjects.
This solar eclipse is conjunct to Jupiter and trine to Uranus. That will make this eclipse full of pleasant surprises. Especially in the matters of the house that contains 4 Capricorn.
Total Lunar Eclipse on January 10, 2020, at 20 Cancer
Asia, Australia, Europe, and Africa may see the Moon turn a shade darker during the maximum phase of this lunar eclipse.
On a Lunar Eclipse, something will end and on a Solar Eclipse, something will begin. A Lunar Eclipse is an opportunity to break habits or eliminate socially conditioned patterns of thought and behavior that stand in the way of self-realization.
This eclipse rules the family our emotions, nurturance, and food.
A Lunar Eclipse can make us more aware of our patterns, and our unconscious motivations. This period of time can bring up old memories and feelings. Full moon eclipses can bring things to completion that you have been working on. The Sun opposite the Moon lights up the Moon and brings previously unexamined areas of your life into awareness. Repressed energies emerge for confrontation and resolution. Pay attention to your dreams. Lunar Eclipses are more emotional than Solar Eclipses.
This eclipse on January 10 will affect two signs – Cancer and Capricorn. Capricorn wants to succeed in the outer world. Cancer wants to develop and maintain a secure home life. The inter-relationship between these two signs mirrors the inter-relationship each of us has with our urge for prestige and the urge to tend to the home.
This lunar eclipse is very complicated because it is opposite to Mercury (the mind, how we communicate), opposite Saturn (the ‘shoulds’ we impose on our life), trine to Neptune (our creative imagination) and it opposes Pluto (elimination of that which is no longer necessary). It could bring all of these issues into your life if it is on a personal planet in your natal chart. Also these issues could manifest in the area of life ruled by the houses that contain Cancer and Capricorn
How will these eclipses affect you?
Note to my Astrology Clients. Use your Planetary Placement and Ascendant Sheet to find if the following eclipses will have a major impact on you.
Eclipses are contrary to the status quo. If impacted by one of these eclipses, your life will not run on the same track it has been on. But that can be a good thing. Some view eclipses as release and renewal points. If your birthday falls on or is close to the dates of an eclipse your life will change dramatically in the months and years ahead.
Eclipses repeat every 19 years. We had solar and lunar eclipses at the same points In December 2000 and January of 2001. Look back at what happened then. This will continue a theme that was playing out at that time. But remember, eclipses get triggered after they occur so events can come in after the eclipse especially within 6 months after the event.
An eclipse tends to emphasize matters related to the house it falls in on your natal chart and what planets it conjuncts or opposes. The areas ruled by the houses or planets will demand more attention, thought, energy, and time from you, at least until the next eclipse in June 2020. Eclipses open doors and invite you to come in, illuminating and stimulating areas of your life that needs your attention.
Remember that planetary energies are archetypal and archetypes can be expressed in many different ways. It’s really based on your consciousness and how you decide to work with these energies.
