September 2016 Eclipses

 

This Month:

Mercury Is flying retrograde until the 22^nd.  He turned retrograde on August 31.  Your mind slows down, you notice things you never noticed before and have time to think through some of your ideas. 

A busy month with two eclipses.  Both eclipses have challenging aspect to them.  The Sep 1 eclipse has a square to Saturn and is conjunct Neptune.  The Sep 16 eclipse is square to Mars.  None of these are happy planets.  Saturn can bring restrictions, Neptune can bring confusion and Mars can bring aggression.  Virgo and Pisces will be impacted by these eclipses, but also Gemini and Sagittarius.  Check out my report above for more information on eclipses.

Also this month Mercury turns direct on the 22^nd and Pluto turns direct on the 26^th.

Jupiter enters Libra on the 9th.  This is good news, especially for Librans.

Those of you born on Sep 11 through 15 or Dec 10 through 15 are going to be prickly this month and ready for a fight.  Mars, the macho planet, is coming into the ring and is in a really bad mood on Sep 12 and 13.

Those born on July 4 through 8 July or 3 to 7 January may have a profound  healing experience during the period of Sep 22 through Sep 30.

Dates to Watch:

Sep 1 – Lunar Eclipse at 5:03 AM EDT at 9 Virgo.  This eclipse is in a square to Saturn and conjunct Neptune.  This activates the Saturn Square Neptune aspect that I wrote about last month and is exact on the 10^th.   A trigger to this eclipse is Oct 11 when Mars hits the eclipse degree.  You may not notice anything to do with this eclipse until then.

          Mercury Conjunct  Jupiter . Pleasing news. Very good for travel and study.

Sep 7 – Sun Trine Pluto.  Advise you receive from a relative or business partner could be advantageous. 

Sep 9 – Jupiter enters Libra until Oct  2017.  Jupiter, the planet of abundance is in the sign of love.  This placement will be good for all of our relationships.

Sep 10 – Saturn Square Neptune at 10 degrees of Sagittarius/Pisces.  This aspect has been plaguing us for months.  We are trying to work on our career and get some important things accomplished but at the same time, we have fantasies about escaping to the Virgin Islands.  We are being pulled in two different directions.  Who will win?  If you have Saturn or Capricorn strong in your birth chart, you will keep working.  If you have Pisces or Neptune strong in your birth chart, you will be running away to the beach. If you have personal planets (Sun, Moon, Mercury, Venus or Mars) or the ascendant at 10 degrees of Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius or Pisces you will be strongly impacted by this aspect.

Sep 11 – Venus Square Pluto at 14 Libra/Capricorn.  This could bring very embarrassing situations with loved ones.  Relationships tend to suffer.  Especially difficult if you have personal planets or the ascendant at 14 Aries, Libra, Capricorn, Cancer.

Sep 12 – Mercury Square Mars and conjunct the Sun at 20 Virgo/Sagittarius. Everyone is saying what they feel today.  No diplomacy anywhere.  This could lead to a lot of conflict.  If you are at work today and your boss is ragging on you, hold your tongue.  That may be hard to do if you have personal planets or the ascendant at20 degrees of Virgo, Pisces Sagittarius or Gemini.

          Sep 13 – Sun Square Mars at 21 Virgo/Sagittarius.  This is another aspect that can lead to quarrels.  Deal with people with kid gloves.

Sep 16 Lunar Eclipse at 3:05 PM at 24 Pisces/Virgo.  A trigger to this eclipse is Jan 20, 2017 when Mars hits this degree.

Sep 17 – Mars Trine Uranus at 23 Sagittarius and Aries.  I like this aspect.  It gives energy to our creative impulses.  It asks us to go ahead with our weird ideas and invent something wonderful.

Sep 18 – Venus Opposite Uranus at 23 Libra/Aries.  One of your friends is very curious about your plans.  You tend to be abrupt with them, in fact you can be abrupt with everyone today.

Sep 20 – Mercury Trine Pluto.  Someone you admire may help you today.

Sep 22 – Mercury turns Direct.  Finally!  How has Mercury retrograde been for you?  Hopefully, you didn’t buy a new car.  Give Mercury a few days to go forward before you start making plans.

          Sun enters Libra until Oct 22.  A great time of the year.  A good time for weddings.

Sep 23 – Mercury Trine Pluto.  A good aspect for researching and communication.

Venus enters Scorpio until Oct 18.  The planet of love in the planet of the underworld?  Venus here wants to join a motorcycle gang, get some tattoos and maybe go out with that cute mafia guy.

Sep 26 – Sun Conjunct Jupiter at 3 Libra.  A great day.  A lift in spirits.  If you have been in a rut, this will help you become more optimistic about the future.

          Pluto turns direct at 14 degrees of Capricorn.  This is a major aspect for anyone with personal planets at 12 to 16 degrees of Capricorn or Cancer.  Pluto can bring deep revelations about something you have been troubled about.  But he can also destroy what you no longer need in your life.

Sep 27 – Mars enters Capricorn.  A good place for Mars.  He is not too hot-headed; he puts all his energy into making money.

Sep 30 – New Moon at 8 Libra.  The start of a new month.  Work on your relationships this month.  Start something new around the arts.

 

OUTER PLANET TRANSITS:

JUPITER is in Virgo until Sep 9, 2016.  This month he moves from 28 Virgo, moves into Libra on Sep 9 and travels from 0 to 4 Libra. Jupiter is about growth and expansion especially in travel and education and also in the area of your life ruled by the house in your natal chart that holds 28 Virgo to 4 Libra degrees of Virgo.

SATURN is in Sagittarius until Dec 2017. This month he will travel from 10 to 11 degrees of Sagittarius.  If you have the ascendant or any personal planets at 10 to 11 degrees of Sagittarius or Gemini, you may be in store for some hard lessons around the issues ruled by the planet and the house the planet is in or rules.  While Saturn is in Sagittarius, he is asking about your belief system, your hopes for the future and your travel plans

URANUS is in Aries until 2018.  This month Uranus is retrograde and will move from 24 to 23 degrees of Aries.  We feel a need for freedom and we want to make some radical changes in our life.  I believe in “cooperating with the inevitable”.  If you have Uranus in a challenging aspect to your ascendant or personal planets, go on a long vacation, move, or make some major changes in your life.

NEPTUNE (creativity, sensitivity, escapism, dreams) is in Pisces until 2026.  This month he is retrograde and will move from 10 to 9 degrees.  A lack of focus, a sense of drifting or an inability to see a betrayal or disappointment until it's too late can be experienced by those of you with the Sun or Personal Planets at 9 or 10 degrees of Pisces or Virgo. For the enlightened out there, Neptune can also bring artistic, musical, creative expression, increased dreams and spiritual insights. Watch for some really inspired films to come out during the time Neptune is in Pisces. 

PLUTO is in Capricorn until 2023.  This month Pluto is retrograde and will move from 15 to 14 degrees of Capricorn all month.   Profound changes will be felt especially by those with Sun, ascendant or personal planets at 14 or 15 degrees of Capricorn or Cancer.

September 2016 Eclipses

 

Every six months, eclipses show the turning points in our lives. They shine a spotlight on something we have not seen previously.  Eclipses indicate what we are to accomplish for the following 6 months to 3 years. They bring in news and events that are sometimes "out of the blue". Time seems to speed up. In a positive sense, eclipses can clear what may obscure the way forward. Remember that the key words for eclipses are emphasis and crisis. 

 Eclipses are contrary to the status quo. If impacted by one of these eclipses, your life will not run on the same track it has been on.  But that can be a good thing. Some view eclipses as release and renewal points.  If your birthday falls on or close to the dates of an eclipse your life will change dramatically in the months and years ahead.

The ancients believed that during an eclipse, the "mighty will fall". They appear often in the mythology of different cultures most often as symbols of obliteration, fear, and the overthrow of the natural order of things. Eclipses were the great omens of fated, large-scale events. The word eclipse comes from a Greek word meaning "abandonment." Quite literally, an eclipse was seen as the Sun abandoning the earth.

Solar Eclipses – The eclipse of the Sun has been traditionally viewed with dread over the ages, as the Sun seems to disappear from the sky. It gets dark in the middle of the day and it seems as if something dreadful is about to happen. Solar Eclipses tend to relate to sudden events that disrupt our day to day functioning; they are the crisis that seems to come out of nowhere and that suddenly demand all of our conscious attention and focus. They tend to stir things up on a physical and conscious level much more than Lunar Eclipses. 

Solar Eclipse on Sept 1 at 9 Virgo 

This is a partial Solar Eclipse visible from Madagascar and Africa.  

Because this eclipse is in the sign of Virgo, We may feel the urge to clean, sort, troubleshoot and fix things.  It is also a good time to work in the garden.  This is also a health conscious sign.  We may start paying attention to diet, hygiene and daily schedules. 

This a pretty challenging eclipse because it forms a T-square with Saturn and Neptune.  In other words the eclipse squares Saturn and opposes Neptune.  This aspect can create fear and paranoia.  To break this down, we have The Sun opposite Neptune which can create deception and insecurity, loss and disappointment.  The Sun Square Saturn which can bring in challenges and pessimism.  

Lunar Eclipses - The Lunar Eclipse gives us opportunities to break out of our current cycle and move on to a different level.  A Lunar Eclipse can make us more aware of our patterns, and our unconscious motivations. Lunar Eclipses can bring up old memories and feelings.  As a full Moon, a Lunar Eclipse tends to bring completion or endings. On a Lunar Eclipse something will end and on a Solar Eclipse something will begin. A Lunar Eclipse is an opportunity to break habits or eliminate socially conditioned patterns of thought and behavior that stand in the way of self-realization. 

Full moon eclipses can bring things to completion that you have been working on. You can finally make decisions about issues that you have been thinking about. The Sun opposite the Moon, lights up the Moon and brings previously unexamined areas of your life into awareness.  

Lunar Eclipses are more emotional than Solar Eclipses.  Because a Lunar Eclipse only happens on a full moon, two houses in your natal chart will be affected.  

Lunar Eclipse on Sept 16 at 24 Pisces/Virgo 

This eclipse affects two signs – Pisces and Virgo. Pisces wants to daydream and Virgo wants to work.  This is the conflict that needs to be worked out during this eclipse period. It is about getting in touch with your inner dreamer versus getting organized. 

This eclipse is square to Mars in Sagittarius.  This creates an urge in us to bring your ideals and wishes to fruition. Also a desire to have a fruitful union with another.

 Eclipses repeat every 19 years.  We had solar and lunar eclipses at the same point in September 1997.  Look back to what happened then.  This will continue a theme that was playing out at that time.

How will these eclipses affect you? 

An eclipse tends to emphasize matters related to the house it falls in on your natal chart and what planets it conjuncts, or opposes.  The areas ruled by the houses or planets will demand more attention, thought, energy, and time from you, at least until the next eclipse. Eclipses open doors and invite us to come in, illuminating and stimulating areas of our lives that need our attention. 

The Solar Eclipse on the 1st will affect you if you have personal planets (Sun, Moon, Mercury, Venus and/or Mars) or the ascendant at 6 to12 degrees of Virgo or Pisces. 

The impact on a personal planet is much stronger than if the eclipse hits outer planets (Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune or Pluto). 

Also look at your natal chart for the houses that contains 6 to 12 degrees of Virgo or Pisces. 

The Lunar Eclipse on the 16^th  will impact you If one of your personal planets (Sun, Moon, Mercury, Venus or Mars) or the ascendant is at 21 to 27 degrees of Pisces or Virgo It will mean the end of one set of circumstances and the beginning of another. Let go.

 Also look at your natal chart for the houses that contains 21 to 27 degrees of Pisces or Virgo.
