There are two goat images this month portraying the symbol for Capricorn. One is a Mountain Goat that slowly climbs to the top of the mountain, symbolizing Capricorn's slow rise to success. Capricorns are late bloomers so sometimes it takes them quite a while to get there. The other is the Scapegoat representing the many times in their life when Capricorns project a “kick me” persona.
The reason I start this newsletter talking about Capricorns is that this month all Capricorns born between Jan 5 to Jan 10 and the Capricorn ascendant readers may have a difficult month. It’s a month of growth experiences or evolution of your consciousness or ---let’s just say a month of crap. There are 12 aspects affecting you this month that have growth potential. But Capricorn is not into expansion or transformation (unless they have some planets or the ascendant in Sagittarius). But even if they have some optimistic happy Sagittarius planets, Saturn is in Sagittarius all month so that won’t work for them either. So Cap, you will probably be dragged kicking and screaming through this month. Have a Happy Birthday anyway. There are two good aspects on Jan 13 and 14th for
those of you born on January 14.
This month Jupiter stations at 23 Virgo and then moves retrograde on the 7th and stays retrograde until May 9. This is also a good aspect for those of you born on January 14 and it lasts all month.
Mercury stations at 1 Aquarius and moves retrograde until January 25.
DATES TO WATCH:
Jan 1 – Mercury enters Aquarius until Jan 8 when he backs up into Capricorn. You are going to feel like springing ahead with all of your plans but on Jan 8, you will need to review where you have been and go over some past events until Mercury goes back into Aquarius in on February 13.
Jan 3 – Mars enters Scorpio until Mar 7, 2016. This is a good placement for Scorpio and Aries (ruled by Mars). This will allow you to have the drive and initiative you need to stay on your News Year’s resolutions.
Jan 5 – This is not ‘a good day in the neighborhood’. Stay home and watch Netflix movies. Details follow:
Mercury Square Mars at 1 Aquarius/Scorpio. Try some diplomacy today. The urge here is to get into some sort of argument, probably with your boss.
Venus Square Neptune at 7 Sagittarius/Pisces. Your tendency will be to "roll over and play dead” if anyone approaches you with a challenge today especially if you have personal planets (Sun, Moon, Mercury, Venus or Mars) or the Ascendant at 7 Sagittarius, Pisces, Gemini or Virgo.
Sun Conjunct Pluto at 15 Capricorn. This can increase your aggressiveness; try to use this energy for sound leadership.
Mercury turns retrograde at 1 Aquarius and stays retrograde until Jan 25. Those of you with personal planets or the ascendant at 1 Aquarius could get some sudden creative ideas.
Jan 7 – Jupiter turns retrograde at 23 Virgo until May 9. This retrograde period will affect those of you with the Sun or Ascendant in Sagittarius. Jupiter is about our belief systems, so instead of trying to convert others to your crazy religious ideas, this is a good time to meditate and deepen your spiritual beliefs. Jupiter is not happy in Virgo. Jupiter wants to focus on the big picture and Virgo wants to nitpick.
Sun Square Uranus at 16 Capricorn/Aries. This will affect those of you with personal planets or the ascendant at 16 Aries, Cancer, Libra and/or Capricorn. Try not to initiate anything. There will be sudden, surprising changes cropping up and you need to stay focused.
Jan 8 - Mercury enters Capricorn until Feb 13. . Mercury is backing up into Capricorn until the 25th of January. Any natal planets between 14 and 29 degrees of Capricorn or the house that contains these degrees will be an area that you will need to review and maybe make some corrections.. Venus Conjunct Saturn at 11 Sagittarius. Venus wants to share love and affection, but Saturn is a really cold ole guy. This could be a frustrating day for relationships, especially if you have 11 Sagittarius or Gemini prominent in your birth chart.
Jan 9 – New Moon at 19.13 Capricorn. This is the beginning of a new monthly cycle. The focus of the new energy will be found in the house that contains 19 Capricorn. See link above for the meaning of the houses.
Jan 12 – Venus Trine Uranus at 16 Sagittarius/Aries. This is a good day for gathering with friends of groups. Take advantage of this day, go out and celebrate. A rare good day in a difficult month.
Jan 13 – Sun Trine Jupiter at 23 Capricorn/Virgo. Another good day that could bring some abundance into your life. It is a very grounded trine in earth signs. It could bring money or an investment paying good dividends.
Jan 14 - Sun conjunct Mercury at 23 Capricorn. You may want to take a short trip on this one. It may have to do with business.
Mercury trine Jupiter 23 Capricorn/Virgo. This is an intellectually enjoyable time. Go to a lecture? Do a crossword puzzle?
Jan 18 – Venus Square Jupiter at 23 Sagittarius/Virgo. Venus loves sweets, jewelry and clothes and Jupiter is over the top and excessive. Stay out of the malls today. No cinnamon buns for you!
Mars Trine Neptune at 7 Scorpio/Pisces. This is a great aspect for realizing your dreams. Look for personal planets or the ascendant in Scorpio, Pisces, or Cancer. You can make it happen.
Jan 20 – Sun enters Aquarius until February 19. If you have an Aquarius ascendant this is the start of the year for you. If not, you will feel like stepping out and showing what you can do. It is the sign of the individual.
Mercury Square Uranus 16 Capricorn/Aries. You may get some sudden news you really don’t like. Try to keep calm mentally.
Jan 22 – Mercury Conjunct Pluto at 15 Capricorn. You are right, you know you are right and all those other people are deluded. You want to rant at everyone about the truth you have found. Keep quiet.
Jan 23 – Venus enters Capricorn until Feb 16. Venus rules love, but in Capricorn, the love has a price. You want a partner with a good income, maybe a yacht and a mansion. You want gifts of expensive jewelry. Good luck.
Full Moon at 3 Leo. This is the peak of the energy that you started on the New Moon on Jan 9.
Jan 25 - Mercury stations direct at 14 Capricorn. Finally Mercury moves direct. “What have your learned Dorothy” when Mercury was retrograde?
Jan 30 – Mercury Conjunct Pluto at 15 Capricorn. The same as the 22nd above. Are you still seething with anger because no one will listen to you?
Jan 31 – Mercury Square Uranus at 17 Capricorn/Aries. Same as 20th above. Maybe another batch of sudden news.
OUTER PLANET TRANSITS:
JUPITER is now in Virgo and will move from 23 to 22 degrees this month. Jupiter turns retrograde on January 7 this month and goes direct on May 9, 2016. Jupiter is about growth and expansion especially in travel and education and also in the area of your life ruled by the house in your natal chart that holds 22 to 23 degrees of Virgo.
SATURN is in Sagittarius until Dec 2017. This month he will travel from 11 to 14 degrees of Sagittarius. If you have the ascendant or any personal planets at 11 to 14 degrees of Sagittarius or Gemini, you may be in store for some hard lessons around the issues ruled by the planet and the house the planet is in or rules. While Saturn is in Sagittarius, he is asking about your belief system, your hopes for the future and your travel plans
URANUS is in Aries until 2018. This month Uranus moves from 16 to 17 degrees of Aries. We feel a need for freedom and we want to make some radical changes in our life. I believe in “cooperating with the inevitable”. If you have Uranus in a challenging aspect to your ascendant or personal planets, go on a long vacation, move, or make some major changes in your life.
NEPTUNE (creativity, sensitivity, escapism, dreams) is in Pisces until 2026. He will move from 7 to 8 degrees of Pisces all month. A lack of focus, a sense of drifting or an inability to see a betrayal or disappointment until it's too late can be experienced by those of you with the Sun or Personal Planets at 7 to 8 degrees of Pisces or Virgo. For the enlightened out there, Neptune can also bring artistic, musical, creative expression, increased dreams and spiritual insights. PLUTO is in Capricorn until 2023. This month Pluto is moving from 15 to 16 degrees of Capricorn. Everyone is feeling the urge to purge and to find his or her truth. Profound changes will be felt especially by those with Sun, ascendant or personal planets at 14 or 15 degrees of Capricorn or Cancer.
