JUPITER ENTERS LEO

 

Jupiter enters Leo on July 16 and stay in Leo for one year until August 2015.  

Jupiter is called “The Greater Benefic” and rules abundance and brings opportunity for growth in the house or planet it touches. He loves to make things bigger and believes more is better. He is also the planet of excess and loves to eat, drink and spend money. I call him the big, fat, happy archetype.  

He can bring in benefactors of a Jupiter nature. Jupiter types are lawyers, professors, professionals people, foreigners, preachers and those with Jupiter and Sagittarius dominant in their birth charts.  

One of the stories I use for Jupiter besides the myth of Jupiter and Zeus is Icarus. He was bored on Earth and considered it a prison. His father made him wings attached to his body with wax in order to escape Earth and warned him not to fly too close to the Sun. Icarus, being a Jupiter archetype, took off with enthusiasm and flew straight up to the Sun. His wings melted and he fell to Earth. Those of you with a lot of Jupiter and Sagittarius in your birth charts can crash and burn when Jupiter hits your planets.  

Jupiter in Leo will enlarge the Leo areas for all of us. Leo is the sign of pride and ego. While it is in Leo it will enhance our search for romance, affection and recognition. We may act in a dramatic manner Our ambition, independence and leadership qualities may increase.  

Every sign has a shadow, so Jupiter can also expand the dark side of Leo. The shadow side here is hubris--in modern lingo narcissism. But as Albert J. Bernstein. a clinical psychologists and writer said, “There may be narcissism without greatness, but there is no greatness without narcissism.” 

So both narcissism and greatness will be in evidence this year in our lives and on the world stage.

Jupiter in the Houses: 

If you have Leo rising, you will have Jupiter in the 1st house this year. This is the beginning of a 12 year cycle of growth for you. Look for expansion in your appearance, (gain weight perhaps?), optimism in your outlook in life – a time for learning and new experiences. People of a Jupiter flavor will be drawn to you. Money and resources will come to you. You will want to find the meaning of life. You will have an increase in self-confidence.  

If you have Cancer rising, Jupiter will be in your 2nd house and will bring an increase of money, possessions, values and earning ability. Jupiter can increase your self worth. It can bring a raise in salary or financial opportunities through investments.  

If you have Gemini rising, Jupiter will be in your 3^rd house and bring contact with siblings and neighbors. Emails, letters and facebook friends will be filling up your inbox. A lot of short trips. Too many books and magazines to read. A good time to write or teach.  

If you have Taurus rising, Jupiter will be in your 4th house and bring expansion in the home. Dealing with the elderly or the parents. Maybe a lot of visitors, relatives moving in, buying a large house, or property deals. A note of caution, if looking to buy a house this year, make sure it is not too big and expensive.  

If you have Aries rising, Jupiter will be in your 5th house and here it brings in creativity, romance, benefits from children, love affairs, amusement, entertainment, and the stage. You may find yourself going to a lot of live theater productions.  

If you have Pisces rising, Jupiter will be in the 6^th house, bringing in a opportunity to work on your health, diet and exercise routines. Good experiences with co-workers and employees. You may adopt pets--more than you need. 

If you have Aquarius rising, Jupiter will be in the 7^th house bringing in advancement for your partner, networking opportunities, committed relationships, art, beauty and love. An opportunity for marriage.  

If you have Capricorn rising, Jupiter will be in the 8^th house and may bring an inheritance or lawsuit settlement to your advantage. Money comes in from other people.  

If you have Sagittarius rising, Jupiter will be in the 9^th house. A very happy placement for Jupiter since he rules the 9^th house. Positive results from long trips to foreign countries, higher education, teaching, publications, and advertising. 

If you have Scorpio rising, Jupiter will be in the 10^th house. A good year for a promotion or a new job with more money. The career takes a leap upward. You could receive honors or a new benevolent boss.  

If you have Libra rising, Jupiter will be in the 11^th house. There will be an increase in friends and associates, you may decide to join a group and form alliances with others.  

If you have Virgo rising, Jupiter will be in the 12 house. This could increase your interest in mysticism, music, dance and dreams. You may decide to do charity work or to work in hospitals or prisons. 

 

Jupiter Aspecting Planets in Your Birth Chart.  

If you have planets in Taurus or Scorpio, Jupiter will square those planets bringing inner tension around the descriptions below. If you have planets in Aquarius, Jupiter will oppose those planets and the events and experiences listed below will come from other people. If you have planets in Leo, Jupiter will conjunct your planets and the energy from Jupiter will be “in your face” obvious.  

Jupiter goes retrograde before it leaves Leo next year. So Jupiter could go back and forth on one of these planets which means there is a major lesson to learn around Jupiter aspecting those specific natal planets.  

 

Sun – This world increase your leadership skills. You could gain recognition. Maybe take too many risks. A glutton for experiences.  

Moon – You could overreact emotionally to situations. There could be a urge for emotional security and closeness. A glutton for nuturance. Become self indulgent – overeat and over drink.  

Mercury – This expands your knowledge, your thinking and reasoning ability.You become more optimistic, maybe arrogant about your opinions.  

Venus – This can bring in the love of your life. Or you could overdo the socializing. Great if you are an artist, it enhances your visual and musical abilities. You could spend too much money.  

Mars – You could get overly aggressive and angry. But if the Mars is weak in your birth chart, this could give you confidence and courage.  

Jupiter – This is the time to find the meaning of life and expand your life in the areas of belief and faith. Very expansive period.  

Saturn – Jupiter could enhance your material responsibilities. It could help you let go of fears that have been blocking you for a long time.  

Uranus – A sudden lucky break. You feel inventive, rebellious. Others think you are acting erratic and eccentric. This aspect helps you decide how to find more freedom in your life.  

Neptune – Jupiter and Neptune are both “get outta town” planets. You may feel a need to escape, run to the beach, or go on a retreat.  

Pluto – Jupiter on this planet could bring a regeneration of old ideas and attitudes. It can also bring on past obsessions and compulsion.  

I leave you with words of wisdom regarding Jupiter transits from the astrologer Robert Hand. “The chances are that everything will work out very well, but you should always make sure that you aren't overdoing or going too far. Also it is important to avoid taking more than your share......Do not overdo. One problem with Jupiter is that you should be careful about what you want, because you are likely to get it.”

July 2014 Forecast

I just read another great book this month: Travels with Epicurus: A journey to a Greek Island in Search of a Fulfilled Life by Daniel Klein. I love authors who take the wisdom from the ancient and not so ancient philosophers and write about their ideas in an accessible manner. This is a great book to read if you are over 65 and searching for what you want to do next.

Also, here is a link to a two part essay on Tony Blair and George Bush written by Barry Goddard an astrologer in London. He does a great job of interpreting their charts and does it by using the basic ten planets and 12 houses. A good read for those of you studying how to read birth charts.

July is one of the best months of the year. So, no matter how hot July gets, you will fee a breath of fresh air due to Jupiter moving into Leo and Mars moving into Scorpio both are leaving that nasty square we have been having. The Leos out there will be getting a year long boost from Jupiter starting on Jul 16 and you Scorpios will get a breather on Jul 20 even though you are not out of the woods yet until the end of the year.

July 1 – Mercury moves direct at 24 Gemini. Mercury has been retrograde since Jun 7. Don't know how many problems you had with electronics, mechanics, etc. Some retrogrades seem worst then other. Mercury retrograde messes up my internal circuits somehow and I usually come down with some strange malady.

Jul 4 – Sun Opposite Pluto. This may bring in more fireworks that you bargained for today. But it is the last Sun Opposite Pluto for a year.

Jul 8 – Sun Square Uranus and Trine Saturn This is a mixed day. Uranus can cause things to unravel and create mishaps, but Saturn can add some stability. You may experience both in different areas of your life.

Jul 12 – Full Moon at 20 Capricorn. A day to start winding things down to get ready for the next Moon cycle that starts on July 26. A good day to become aware of your property and responsibilities. What do you need to do in these areas.

Jul 13 – Mercury enters Cancer until Jul 31. Mercury here thinks of family and can get emotional. There may be news about food, GMO's, vs organic and about obesity. Venus Trine Mars. A good day for romance and for creativity.

Jul 16 – Jupiter enters Leo until Aug 12, 2015. In Leo, Jupiter will expand all the areas of Leo, creativity, play, entertainment and children. Look at the house in your birth chart that contains Leo, this is the area that will bring you good luck.

Jul 18 – Venus in Cancer until Aug 12. Your affections become gentler and softer.

Jul 19 – Mercury Trine Neptune. Very good for writers or for day dreamers. Sun Square Mars. Try to stay cool. This is an angry aspect, try some hard physical work in the garden.

Jul 20 – Saturn turns direct at 16 Scorpio. Saturn has been retrograde for four months. Now you can bring out your career plans you have been stewing over since last March and get to work on that resume. Scorpios may still be in a slowdown, but this direct motion will help you move forward again. Scorpios won't be free of this cranky old man entirely until Saturn enters Sagittarius, the fat happy man, in December 2014.

Jul 21 – Uranus turns retrograde at 16 Aries until Dec 22, 2014. Uranus creates a strong urge to change. Until December, we can stop crashing and burning and settle down a while. J

ul 22 – Mercury opposite Pluto. A good day to do some research. Get on Ancestry.com and find out why your mother's side of the family is so messed up. Sun enters Leo until Aug 23. For the next four months we are urged to have fun, be creative and warm and bring out your childlike enthusiasm.

Jul 24 – Sun conjunct Jupiter. This only occurs once a year and brings optimism and enthusiasm. Mercury square Uranus. Your thinking is a little squirrely today. You can become obstinate and a little nuts. Mercury trine Saturn. Saturn to the rescue, somewhere in your addled brain you will get in touch with reality today.

Jul 25 – Mars enters Scorpio until Sep 13, 2014. Mars has spent the last two years in Libra, going back and forth triggering the T square. Scorpio is a better sign for Mars. Mars is the planet of war and he loves becoming more intense, more jealous, and more manipulative here than in any other sign.

Jul 26 – New Moon at 3 Leo. This New Moon is smack dab on Jupiter. That makes this a very lucky new moon. You can shine this entire month.

Jul 28 – Venus opposite Pluto. Some intense feelings can erupt on this one.

Jul 31 – Mercury enters Leo until Aug 15. A time to get on facebook and spread pictures of your mug, your dog and all the fun you are having.

OUTER PLANET TRANSITS:

JUPITER is in Cancer until July 15, 2014. This month Jupiter will move from 25 Cancer to 3 Leo. Jupiter is about growth and expansion. Look to the house in your natal chart that holds 26 degrees of Cancer or Capricorn to 3 degrees of Leo or Aquarius. This is the area of your life that will experience this expansion.

SATURN is in Scorpio until Dec 24, 2014. This month Saturn stays at 16 degrees of Scorpio and will turn direct on Jul 20. If you have the ascendant or any personal planets at 16 degrees of Scorpio or Taurus in your natal chart, you may be in store for some hard lessons around the issues ruled by the planet and the house the planet is in or rules. Scorpio rules passion, sex and depths of all kinds and Saturn may ask you to take on more responsibility for how you control your rage and psychological expression. 

URANUS is in Aries until 2018.  This month Uranus stays at 16 degrees of Aries. He will turn retrograde on July 21. We all feel a need to rebel; we want more freedom and want to make some radical changes in our life.  I believe in “cooperating with the inevitable”.  If you have Uranus in a challenging aspect to your ascendant or personal planets, go on a long vacation, move, or make some major changes in your life.  

NEPTUNE (creativity, sensitivity, escapism, dreams) is in Pisces until 2026. He is retrograde and will move from 7 to 6 degrees of Pisces all month. A lack of focus, a sense of drifting or an inability to see a betrayal or disappointment until it's too late can be experienced by those of you with the Sun or Personal Planets at 7 degrees of Pisces or Virgo. For the enlightened out there, Neptune can also bring artistic, musical, creative expression, increased dreams and spiritual insights. Watch for some really inspired films to come out during the time Neptune is in Pisces.

PLUTO is in Capricorn until 2023.  This month Pluto is moving retrograde and moves from 12 to 11 degrees of Capricorn. Everyone is feeling the urge to purge and to find his or her truth.  Profound changes will be felt especially by those with Sun, ascendant or personal planets at 12 to 11 degrees of Capricorn or Cancer.
