February 2014 Forecast

It is bitterly cold here in Chestertown, MD, but it is also  beautiful.  A lot of scenes, events and conversations remind me of poems. These cold snowy days always reminds me of one of my favorite poems by Elinor Wylie.  She was from New England and visited southern California and this was her response.

Puritan Sonnet

Down to the Puritan marrow of my bones
There's something in this richness that I hate.
I love the look, austere, immaculate,
Of landscapes drawn in pearly monotones.
There's something in my very blood that owns
Bare hills, cold silver on a sky of slate,
A thread of water, churned to milky spate
Streaming through slanted pastures fenced with stones.

I love those skies, thin blue or snowy gray,
Those fields sparse-planted, rendering meager sheaves;
That spring, briefer than apple-blossom's breath,
Summer, so much too beautiful to stay;

And sleepy winter, like the sleep of death.

Speaking of physics, I am still obsessed about living in a simulation.  Maybe it's me, but I don't like the idea of a computer nerd controlling my life!  Here is a really good article about trying to figure out if we are in someone’s computer game or if this life is real.  Is This Life Real 

February is a quiet month.  As you can see below, we have very few aspects this month.  The biggest is the Jupiter Square Uranus on the 26^th.  These are not scary planets, this aspect wants to expand, escape and do something fun.  It is looking for novelty, entertainment and the bizarre.

Dates to Watch:

Feb 6 – Mercury turns retrograde at 3 Pisces.  He will stay retrograde until February 28.  Read Dark Star Astrology for an excellent description of Mercury Retrograde.

Feb 11 – Sun Square Saturn at 23 Aquarius to 23 Scorpio. Don’t take any risks today.  You may be disillusioned by someone in whom you had great faith.  Especially if you have the ascendant or personal planets at 23 Aquarius, Leo or Scorpio.

Feb 12 – Mercury enters Aquarius until March 17.  Your mind can bring in some really far-out ides during this time.  It is also a good time for innovation.  But be careful of spouting out the truth to those who are not ready to hear it.

Feb 14 – Sun Trine Mars. You have plenty of energy to expend on future projects.  Get plenty of exercise and use your energy in a positive way.

          Full Moon at 26 Leo.  This is a very complex Full moon because it conjuncts Mercury, trines Mars and squares Saturn.It’s great for new ideas for future projects, but your initiative may be stymied today.

Feb 15 -  Sun Conjunct Mercury at 26 Aquarius.  You may want to take a short trip today.  Good ideas come in regarding your business.  A good day to pay more attention to the details.

Feb 16 – Mercury Trine Mars.  This favors the writer in you. You are better able to get your story across.  This is also good for the start of a journey.

Feb 18 – Sun enters Pisces until March 20.  This sign rules the spiritual and the imaginative.  This time of year heightens our sensitivity.  We can experience vague memories of past lives.

Feb 19 – Mercury Square Saturn at 23 Aquarius/Scorpio.  Writers block, can’t think of the correct word.  We stutter over our speech.  Just watch Netflix today.  Very difficult for those of you with the ascendant or the personal planets at 23 Aquarius, Scorpio or Leo.

Feb 23 – Sun Conjunct Neptune at 4 Pisces.  A good day to escape.  Also good for any of the arts.  Neptune is very creative and also spiritual.

Feb 26 – Jupiter Square Uranus at 10 Cancer/Aries.  You want to seek knowledge and education on unorthodox subjects.  You are interested in new ideas.  A get out of town aspect especially if you have the ascendant or personal planets at 10 Aries, Cancer, Libra or Capricorn.

Feb 28 – Mercury turns direct.  A good time to put your plans into action and make some important purchases.

          Sun Trine Jupiter.  Emphasis on financial opportunities and educational advancements.

OUTER PLANET TRANSITS 

JUPITER is in Cancer until July 2014. This month he is Retrograde and will move from 12 to 10.  Jupiter is about growth and expansion, but on the Retrograde, it is inner growth that you are interested in.  A good time to expand your life with education.  Look to the house in your natal chart that holds 12 degree to 10 degrees of Cancer or Capricorn. This is the area of your life that will experience this expansion.

SATURN is in Scorpio until Dec 24, 2014. This month Saturn moves from 22 to 23 degrees of Scorpio.    If you have the ascendant or any personal planets at 22 to 23 degrees of Scorpio or Taurus in your natal chart, you may be in store for some hard lessons around the issues ruled by the planet and the house the planet is in or rules. Scorpio rules passion, sex and depths of all kinds and Saturn may ask you to take on more responsibility for how you control your rage and psychological expression. 

URANUS is in Aries until 2018.  This month Uranus moves from at 9 to 10 degrees of Aries. We all feel a need to rebel; we want more freedom and want to make some radical changes in our life.  I believe in “cooperating with the inevitable”.  If you have Uranus in a challenging aspect to your ascendant or personal planets, go on a long vacation, move, or make some major changes in your life.
 
NEPTUNE (creativity, sensitivity, escapism, dreams) is in Pisces until 2026 and is moving from 4 to 5 degrees of Pisces. A lack of focus, a sense of drifting or an inability to see a betrayal or disappointment until it's too late can be experienced by those of you with the Sun or Personal Planets at 4 or 5 degrees of Pisces or Virgo. For the enlightened out there, Neptune can also bring artistic, musical, creative expression, increased dreams and spiritual insights. Watch for some really inspired films to come out during the time Neptune is in Pisces.

PLUTO is in Capricorn until 2023.  This month Pluto moves from 12 to 13 degrees of Capricorn all month. Everyone is feeling the urge to purge and to find his or her truth.  Profound changes will be felt especially by those with Sun, ascendant or personal planets at 12 to 13 degrees of Capricorn or Cancer.

January 2014 Forecast

2014 will be another year of dynamic challenges.  I know we need to make changes in our life, but these challenges are wearing me down. “Oh no, not another growth experience!” The difference between 2014 and the other years that have been dynamic is that this is the apex of the evolutionary changes that started in 2008 when Pluto went into Capricorn. (Remember, the last time Pluto was in Capricorn was the American Revolution).

The Uranus/Pluto Square is coming back this year and will be exact on Apr 21,  But that is not all that is happening the second part of April.  Mars is opposing Uranus and squaring Pluto and Jupiter is opposing Pluto and squaring Uranus.  This makes for a grand cross in the sky.  Four planets all squaring each other in Cardinal signs. (Cardinal are the energetic signs and initiate change).

Something has to give.  Mars pushes, Uranus liberates, Jupiter expands and Pluto is power over.  This is all happening at 13 degrees of Cardinal signs right on top of the U.S. Sun, ouch!

Also this year on July 16, Jupiter will move from Cancer to Leo.  In Cancer we felt moody, we wanted to stay home and dwell on the past.  Once he is in Leo, we want to leave the tribe and get up on stage and show our talent and creativity.

Also this year, good and bad news for Scorpios.  Saturn is leaving your sign finally, that is good.  But not until December 23, 2014 when the old man will go into Sagittarius.  Saturn in Scorpio forced us into examining our deepest, darkest secrets, our sexual desires and our various pathologies.  In Sagittarius he will ask you about your beliefs, what is your personal truth? How about your education? Should you go for the PHd? Or the GED?

We start out in January with Venus retrograde in Capricorn, this retrograde period started on Nov 5, 2013 and will go to March 5, 2014.  She will have a rendezvous with Mars a few times during this retrograde. (He goes retrograde March 2, 2014 and Direct on May 19, 2014)  Venus rules what we love, how we relate and our social lives.  Capricorn loves tradition and rules.  So we will be interested in long term, stable relationships.

In Janary Mars is in Libra. (he went into Libra on December 7, 2013 until July 25, 2014.  He will be in Libra a long time because he goes retrograde in that sign.  Libra is about relationships, it is the sign of Venus.  Mars is action and impulsiveness.  So we may want to jump into relationships now, but Venus in Capricorn wants to go slow and establish something secure.  A push-pull effect.

Dates to Watch:

The beginning of the month will impact those of you with the ascendant or personal planets (Sun, Mercury, Venus or Mars) at 10 to 16 of Cancer, Libra, Capricorn or Aries).  A lot of endings and beginnings.

Jan 1 – New Moon at 10 Capricorn.  This is a good day to start on the New Years Resolutions.  The new moon gives you energy to start things.  The Sun, Moon, Mercury and Pluto are all lined up in Capricorn today at 10,, 11 and 12 degrees.   This is the last ditch effort of the institutions and corporations and other long standing authorities to take control.

Jan 2 – Sun Square Mars at 12 Capricorn/Libra.  Treat others with kid gloves, don’t push.  Work on your own.

Jan 3 – Mercury opposite Jupiter at 15 Capricorn/Cancer.  Your conversation and ways of expressing yourself may bring you to the attention of the rich and famous.  Maintain modesty.

Jan 5 – Sun opposite Jupiter at 15 Capricorn/Cancer.  Watch out for extravagance.  You may give others the impression that you are bigger, better and brighter than you are.

Jan 7 – Mercury conjunct Venus. You could receive important messages from friends today.  Or hear news on an artistic project you have been working on.

Jan 8 – Mars Square Jupiter at 15 Libra/Cancer.  You want to impulsively throw over everything and get outta town.  Be careful about what you leave behind.  You may have to crawl back with your tail between your legs.

Jan 11 – Sun conjunct Venus at 21 Capricorn.  A very fine day.  A good day to have a party and make new friends.         

          Mercury enters Aquarius until Mar 31.  Mercury loves Aquarius.  He can come up with some really bizarre ideas now.

January 15 – Full Moon at 25 Cancer.  This is a culmination of the New Moon on the 1^st of January.  I hope you started on your New Years resolutions by now.

Jan 16 – Venus Square Mars at 18 Capricorn/Libra.  Don’t be too aggressive in relationships, don’t spend too much and watch out for being socially awkward or tactless.

Jan 19 – Sun enters Aquarius until February 18.  The Sun in Aquarius can bring surprising events.  Also a commitment to a cause or working for an intellectual ideal.

Jan 24 – Mercury Trine Mars.  This is a very good aspect for writers.  The mind has the energy it needs to sit down and compose your story.

Jan 25 – Mercury Square Saturn at 22 Aquarius/Scorpio.  I hope you did a lot of writing yesterday, because Saturn is throwing up the blocks and the, “I can’t do this, I’m an idiot” stuff at you.

Jan 30 – New Moon at 10 Aquarius.  This brings out the rebel in us.  Good time to break out of a rut and try something different.

Jan 31 – Jupiter opposite Pluto at 12 Cancer/Capricorn.  You could do some great work for humanity (Jupiter) OR you can become a hit man for the Mafia (Pluto).  The choice is yours.                  

          Mercury enters Pisces until Apr 8, 2014.  He goes retrograde on February 6 until Feb 28.  Mercury ins Pisces is very addle-brained, but is also so far out that it can explore other dimensions of reality.

          Venus turns direct at 13 Capricorn.  Venus is shining a positive light on any of the planets or ascendant that you have at 13 Capricorn.  It could bring in love or money.  Take your choice.
