Good news and bad news this month. The first half of the month is great, the second half is not too pretty. We start out with a positive New Moon on the 2nd and things run smooth until the end of the month when Mars starts to trigger the infamous Uranus/Pluto Square. Those of you with personal planets (Sun, Moon, Venus, Mars or the ascendant) at 8 to 12 degrees of Cardinal Signs (Aries, Cancer, Libra, Capricorn) will feel this the most.
Dates to Watch:
Dec 2 – New Moon at 10- Sagittarius at 7:22 PM. A great New Moon starts off this month. Sagittarius brings optimism and hope. This New Moon is in a trine to Uranus. You could get some positive news or events you didn’t expect. This New Moon sets the tone for the entire month. At the same time Mars is Trine Venus. This aspect is very good for relationships. Look to the house in your natal chart that contains 10 degrees of Sagittarius, this is the area of life that will expand with positive energies. See my blog for the meaning of the houses.
Dec 4 – Mercury enters Sagittarius until December 24. This continues our feeling of optimism or total manic thinking. You feel nothing can go wrong and you have a lot of great ideas. Don’t do anything about them, check out Dec 6 below.
Dec 6 – Mercury Square Neptune. You are totally delusional on this one. Best for reading fantasy fiction, daydreaming or just slacking off.
Dec 7 – Mars enters Libra until July 25, 2014. Now this is really tricky. Mars is the God of War so it does rule aggression, but it Is in the sign of (Why can’t everyone just get along) Libra. So there may be a tendency to go into “looking good” mode and repress the inner warrior. Mars is the planet that triggers the larger transits that we are having and so Mars in Libra will square Pluto and Uranus at the end of the month. A week before Christmas he will trigger Uranus and cause recklessness and rebellion with us or on the world stage.
Then just after Christmas Mars Squares Pluto and also the Sun and Mercury. Mars could trigger violence in the world. According to the old time astrologers, Mars/Uranus/Pluto means “violent interventions, sudden disasters and calamities of great consequence”.
It is too bad that this falls on the holidays. Stay away from the angry people at the Christmas dinner. And watch out for the Christmas party at work. Plastic forks and knives may be flying.
To use Mars in a positive way, go on a hike or double up on your exercise.
Dec 10 – Mercury Trine Uranus. Unusual creative ideas flow in today. From now until Dec 28, get out a piece of paper and write them down.
Dec 12 – Jupiter Trine Saturn. Very positive aspect for business and your work life.
Dec 17 – Uranus turns Direct at 8 Aries. Uranus is stopping in the sky at 8 Aries and turning direct. Look for personal planets in your natal chart at 7 to 9 Aries or Libra. This is going to bring in an electrical buzz around that planet. It will stir you up to take action.
Full Moon at 25 Gemini at 4:28 AM. Gemini is a very nervous sign. It likes to be on the move. Good time to go shopping.
Dec 21 – Sun enters Capricorn until January 19, 2014. This is the depth of winter. Capricorn, ruled by Saturn, reveals how we feel and also how the world looks at this time of year.
Venus turns Retrograde at 28 Capricorn until January 31, 2014. Venus goes retrograde every 18 months. From LynnKoiner.com “When Venus is retrograde, it provides lessons in evaluating the real worth and value of people and things in our life (Taurus-Libra issues). With existing relationships, this cycle produces experiences wherein it is easier to discern the relative worth and value of these people in your life.
Discrimination is more effective. You become readily aware of any problems, differences or unresolved issues. It is NOT a time, however, to act upon any unfavorable awareness. It is purely a time of evaluation rather than direct action. As little frictions and disagreements crop up, they serve to remind you that the relationship is not perfect. Dec 24 – Mercury Enters Capricorn until January 11, 2014. This is a morose placement for Capricorn, but it is practical and solid and it is positive if you don’t care about not having any fun.
Dec 25 – Mars Opposite Uranus at 9 Libra/Aries. Here come the Mars triggers! On this one Mars is triggering that revolutionary spirit we have seen erupting around the world since Uranus went into Aries on March 11 2011 the day of the Fukishima Disaster. Uranus does love disasters, especially in Aries.
Dec 29 – Sun conjunct Mercury at 8 Capricorn. The Sun is shining its light on your mind and how you communicate. That should be good, right? But Uranus is also squaring this placement. See below.
Mercury Square Uranus at 8 Capricorn/Aries. Erratic thinking. New weird ideas come in. You could have brilliant ideas but are totally incoherent when you try to spell them out for someone.
Dec 30 – Sun Square Uranus at 8 Capricorn/Aries. An excitable aspect. You feel restless and could be impacted by sudden events.
Mars Square Pluto at 11 Libra/Capricorn I would lay low on this one. There may be maniacal drivers on the road. People are feeling murderous.
Dec 31 – Mercury Conjunct Pluto at 11 Capricorn. A day to think deep thoughts. Also a good day to go see your therapist. Impressions are coming up from your unconscious and you don’t know what the heck they are.
Mercury Square Mars at 11 Capricorn/Libra. You could have a sharp tongue today. Don’t take on any delicate negotiations.
OUTER PLANET TRANSITS
JUPITER is in Cancer until July 2014. This month he is Retrograde and will move from 19 to 16. Jupiter is about growth and expansion, but on the Retrograde, it is inner growth that you are interested in. A good time to expand your life with education. Look to the house in your natal chart that holds 19 degree to 16 degrees of Cancer or Capricorn. This is the area of your life that will experience this expansion.
SATURN is in Scorpio until Dec 24, 2014. This month Saturn moves from 17 to 20 degrees of Scorpio. If you have the ascendant or any personal planets at 17 to 20 degrees of Scorpio or Taurus in your natal chart, you may be in store for some hard lessons around the issues ruled by the planet and the house the planet is in or rules. Scorpio rules passion, sex and depths of all kinds and Saturn may ask you to take on more responsibility for how you control your rage and psychological expression.
URANUS is in Aries until 2018. This month Uranus is retrograde until the 17th when he goes direct. This month he stays at 8 degrees of Aries. We all feel a need to rebel; we want more freedom and want to make some radical changes in our life. I believe in “cooperating with the inevitable”. If you have Uranus in a challenging aspect to your ascendant or personal planets, go on a long vacation, move, or make some major changes in your life.
NEPTUNE (creativity, sensitivity, escapism, dreams) is in Pisces until 2026 and is moving from 2 to 3 degrees of Pisces. A lack of focus, a sense of drifting or an inability to see a betrayal or disappointment until it's too late can be experienced by those of you with the Sun or Personal Planets at 2 or 3 degrees of Pisces or Virgo. For the enlightened out there, Neptune can also bring artistic, musical, creative expression, increased dreams and spiritual insights. Watch for some really inspired films to come out during the time Neptune is in Pisces.
PLUTO is in Capricorn until 2023. This month Pluto moves from 10 to 11 degrees of Capricorn all month. Everyone is feeling the urge to purge and to find his or her truth. Profound changes will be felt especially by those with Sun, ascendant or personal planets at 10 to 11 degrees of Capricorn or Cancer.
