One of my favorite astrological writers on politics and the economy is Robert Gover who has published a book entitled, Time and Money: The Economy of the Planets. This is an excerpt from an article in the ISAR newsletter. He doesn’t keep his blog updated with his latest stuff so it is hard to find on the internet.
“I occasionally have to check myself when I’m watching the mass media news on TV and remind myself that the USA is no longer a democracy, it’s become a military-industrial-oligarchic socialist fascist dictatorship, or something that cannot be captured in conventional political terms. But because we’ve all been trained from the cradle to assume we live in a democratic society, we go on prattling the same old clichés: We vote, therefore we live in a democracy.
But of course the two Presidential candidates we’ll be voting for this November are both owned and operated by the wizards who lurk anonymously behind the proverbial curtain of Oz. One will say things that appeal to conservatives, the other will appeal to progressives, but once elected, both will do the bidding of the wizards.
This was foreseen more than two hundred years ago by Thomas Jefferson, who said, “The end of democracy and the defeat of the American Revolution will occur when Government falls into the hands of lending institutions and moneyed incorporations."
Once elected, both the greed-heads and the do-gooders are obliged to play by the rules of the game, rules designed by the wizards behind the curtain of mass media blah blah Oz.
Astrology saves me from cynicism by constantly reminding me that whatever exists today will change, for change is the only constant.
Now our present situation economically and politically is such that if you think through the long-range consequences, you are liable to become very cynical or very depressed. Unless, that is, you examine previous Uranus-Pluto history and realize that nobody here is really in charge of our destiny, and that big surprises are in store as this Uranus-Pluto square tightens to a grand cross pattern with the USA’s natal Sun-Saturn square, due to be most exact by 2015.” Robert Gover
Another excellent writer is Eric Francis, here he writes about the Titanic.
And also the Oxford Astrologer who writes about the effect of Pluto being exactly on Syria’s Sun here
The highlights this month are the Solar Eclipse on the 20th at 0 degrees of Gemini and Venus turning retrograde on May 16th at 23 degrees of Gemini.
Dates to Watch:
May 5 – Full Moon at 16 Scorpio. The full moon in Scorpio is very passionate and can bring up jealousy and obsession. You can finally get to the bottom of hidden psychological issues and purge yourself of old habits and ways of reacting to others.
Mercury opposite Saturn at 24 Aries and Libra – You just don’t want to talk today and you don’t want to listen to others jabber at you either. Just retreat, shut off all of your electronic gadgets and the TV and focus on your inner wisdom. You are especially wise today if you have any personal planets (Sun, Moon, Mercury, Venus, or Mars) or the ascendant at 24 Aries or Libra.
May 9 – Mercury enters Taurus until May 24. This gives us the ability to think in a calmer more methodical way.
May 13 – Mothers Day. There is a conjunction of the Sun with Jupiter at 23 Taurus. This is a great aspect. It is all about expanding your education and experiences. A time to connect to your creative power. This is especially potent if you have personal planets or the ascendant at 23 Taurus.
May 14 – Mercury Trine Pluto. You can get some really good insights into your motivations. A good day to do some research and dig deeper into the subjects you care about.
May 15 - Venus is retrograde until 27 June. This is a rare and powerful Venus retrograde because on June 5th, during this retrograde, Venus and the Sun will form an eclipse. Since it is an exact Venus/Sun transit, we will be able to see Venus transiting the Sun. See Lynn Koiner’s blog for details. During this retrograde period we will reassess our values and everything that we love. This retrograde may bring an old love back into your life.
May 16 – Mars trine Pluto. Don’t waste this day, a lot can be accomplished. Pluto is adding power and strength to your activities.
May 20 – Sun moves into Gemini the same day as the Solar Eclipse. The Sun stays in Gemini until Jun 20. A good period to network and connect with friends.
Solar Eclipse at 7:47 PM at 0 Gemini. This Solar eclipse is squaring Neptune. Beware of self-delusion and confusion around this time. Look at your natal chart to see where 0 Gemini falls in your chart. This Eclipse will shine a light on those areas of your life. See Meaning of the Houses on my blog.
May 22 – Mercury on Jupiter. You could have some great expansive ideas, but on the other hand you could get carried away with your great ideas and invest in the stock market (not a good thing).
May 23 – Sun Square Neptune. You may have noticed that I really don’t like Neptune. It is just too vague and fuzzy for me. I know it is artistic and spiritual blah, blah, blah. But if you are not an artist or a meditater, this could be the day you meet that wonderful person who is just too good to be true and then notice your wallet is missing.
May 24 – Mercury enters Gemini until Jun 7. Mercury is right at home in Gemini. It can spin some interesting, unusual tales. It is just so clever and talkative. A good period for communication, but beware of your glibness, don’t communicate anything unless it is Necessary, True and Kind. (A lesson from the Buddhists).
May 25 – Mercury Square Neptune. So you think you just saw some fairies in your yard today? It’s ok, it is just Neptune sending imaginary images into your head.
May 27 – Sun conjunct Mercury. This is a day that you are very bright. A lot of light energy pouring into your mind. Take advantage of it. You are absolutely brilliant if you have personal planets or the ascendant at 6 Gemini.
May 30 – Mercury Square Mars at 13 Gemini and 13 Virgo. A very argumentative time, especially if you have personal planets at 13 Gemini, Sagittarius, Pisces or Virgo.
OUTER PLANET TRANSITS
JUPITER is in Taurus until June 11, 2012 this month and will move from 20 to 27 degrees. Now is the time to move ahead with your optimistic plans for the future, especially if you have the ascendant, Sun or Moon between 20 and 27 degrees of Taurus or Scorpio.
SATURN is in Libra (structure, foundation, and responsibility) until Oct 2012. This month Saturn is moving retrograde from 25 to 23 degrees of Libra. If you have the Ascendant or any personal planets at 25 to 23 degrees of Libra in your natal chart, you may be in store for some hard lessons around the issues ruled by the planet and the house the planet is in or rules. Libra rules relationships of all kinds and Saturn may ask you to take on more responsibility for how your relationships work.
URANUS is in Aries until 2018. This month Uranus is moving from 6 to 7degrees of Aries. We all feel a need to rebel, we want more freedom and want to make some radical changes in our life. I believe in “cooperating with the inevitable”. If you have Uranus in a challenging aspect to your ascendant or personal planets, go on a long vacation, move, or make some major changes in your life.
NEPTUNE (creativity, sensitivity, escapism, dreams) is in Pisces until 2026. This month Neptune moves from 2 to 3 degrees of Pisces. A lack of focus, a sense of drifting or an inability to see a betrayal or disappointment until it's too late can be experienced by those of you with the Sun or Personal Planets at 2 to 3 degrees of Pisces. For the enlightened out there, Neptune can also bring artistic, musical, creative expression, increased dreams and spiritual insights.
PLUTO is in Capricorn until 2023. This month Pluto is moving retrograde from 9 to 8 degrees of Capricorn. Everyone is feeling the urge to purge and to find his or her truth. Profound changes will be felt especially by those with Sun, Ascendant or personal planets at 8 to 9 degrees of Capricorn or Cancer.
Have a good month,
Janet Kane
